The 124th Annual Berrigan Show held on Sunday attracted a large crowd.

“The best day … this is better prize money than Melbourne (Royal)” said Darcy Prime, riding Saddle Up Bella, when he collected the M.R. Pyle Memorial Sash in showjumping from Sponsor Graeme Pyle.
The showjumping ring had another strong day on the beautiful Berrigan Sportsground, with the show also attracting strong entries across the pavilion, horse events, fleece and poultry competitions.
Once again the Upper Murray Horseman’s Association snaffle bit cutting and team yarding events were popular across Saturday and Sunday.
The poultry pavilion was full with strong exhibits and four new exhibitors to the Berrigan Show.
The pavilion made for a magnificent exhibit with many attendees blown away by the array of local talent on display from the hotly contested Best Cake by a male, to hundreds of photos, a gorgeous wooden truck, and the Children’s Centre decorated Marie Biscuits.
The new scarecrow competition had teams dressing mannequins made by the Berrigan Men’s Shed during lunchtime to create the scariest, most creative, and champion scarecrows.
The sunny weather made for a great day out for the whole family, with lots of free entertainment and activities for the kids.
Fizzics Education provided free activities throughout the day along with educational science shows thanks to the Berrigan Show Spring School Holiday Program, funded by the NSW Government’s Office for Regional Youth.
Show attendees were treated to a preview of the Berrigan Amateur Musical Spectacular in the luncheon room with local talent.
Finley High School principal Jeff Ward opened the 124th Berrigan Show, taking the opportunity to celebrate the exceptional achievements of the school agricultural team.
Mr Ward acknowledged the community support behind the agricultural department from donations of hay, grain, livestock and semen.
Berrigan Show president Neville Dalgliesh thanked the volunteers and sponsors, and all those in attendance for the show.
A number of special awards were presented on the day.
Berrigan Show Society treasurer Heather Pyle was made a life member.
David Alexander was recognised with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication and support of the Berrigan Show particularly in stewarding the fleece competition.
Don Bradley was recognised with a certificate of appreciation for this fantastic and interesting vintage machinery display at each Berrigan Show.
Andrew Horne received the Royal Agricultural Societies of NSW (RAS of NSW) Agricultural Shows Award, presented by RAS of NSW Councillor Sarah Hanlon.
Brooklynn Dowling was named the 2024 Berrigan Show The Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman and will represent Berrigan at the Zone 7 Final in Griffith in February 2025.
