The first patient of the new after-hours GP service, Dianne Harrington, marked the official opening of this much-needed clinic by helping cut the ribbon.
On Wednesday, April 16 at 6pm, Kyabram District Health Service threw open its doors to its brand-new after hours bulk-billed GP clinic, allowing residents to get the medical help they need, when they need it most.
The service operates every Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm, and starting May, it will be available on weekends and public holidays from 9am to 5pm.
Importantly, to alleviate financial pressure on local residents seeking urgent but non-life-threatening medical assistance, the service is fully bulk-billed.
The service was developed in conjunction with the Murray Primary Health Network to address the high-need for after-hours general practice in regional areas, with Kyabram chosen to trial the service for three months.
Murray PHN's assessment revealed Campaspe Shire had limited access to urgent after-hours primary healthcare and many patients at Kyabram Urgent Care Centre were found to have semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.
A booking system set to come in place for the Wednesday sessions is available at the KDHS website.
