Organised by the Victorian Fisheries Authority, this year’s Murray Codference will take place on Saturday, November 16, at the GV Hotel in Shepparton.
Since 2016, the event has hooked the hearts of native fishing enthusiasts statewide and beyond.
“Our Codference has become one of the most highly anticipated dates for cod fishers from Victoria and interstate, and it’s a great way to get you primed for the season opening again in many lakes and rivers on December 1,” VFA chief executive Travis Dowling said.
To further one’s river-roaming skills, the VFA has assembled a range of cod fishing experts to share their knowledge.
Among them is Lubin Pfeiffer, who could hardly have a better CV.
He’s recognised as Australia’s finest recreational fisher, appeared on hit television programs such as BigAngryFish and Full Scale Fishing Adventures, and represented Australia at the World Fly Fishing Championships.
No matter where his career has taken him, though, his passion and skill for catching Murray cod always bring him back to Victoria’s rivers and lakes.
Joining him on stage is Robbie Alexander, a prominent fishing personality with more than 130,000 followers on social media, and new chums Colby Lesko and Kate Norman.
They will share insights from beginner basics to advanced techniques, and all speakers will discuss using live scope or active targeting in cod fishing.
The event will also spotlight the latest plans of the VFA and project partners, including the expansion of the Arcadia hatchery and initiatives to boost the numbers of threatened species.
“This year’s Codference will be our best yet, and we’d love to see you there, chat fishing and share lunch as we get set for a bumper summer of cod fishing,” Mr Dowling said.
The 2024 Murray Codference is on Saturday, November 16, from 9am to 4pm at the GV Hotel, 223 High St, Shepparton.
Lunch will be provided.
