Designs are on the way for a new kindergarten in Benalla, which will give more local families access to a quality kindergarten program close to home.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that Tectura Pty Ltd had been selected to design the new facility.
This kindergarten will be located at Benalla P-12 College – Clarke St Campus, and is expected to open in 2027, with at least two kindergarten rooms promised.
Locating kindergartens on or close to schools supports children to get the most out of their early learning, makes drop-off more convenient for busy parents and carers and helps with a smoother transition to primary school.
The Victorian Government says it is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of three-year-old kindergarten each week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of pre-Prep each week by 2036.
Through Best Start, Best Life reforms, the government says it is transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money, and support parents and carers to return to work or study if they choose.
“With an architect appointed and designs on the way, children and families in Benalla are a step closer to having a great new local kinder in the heart of their community,” Ms Symes said.
“We’re delivering record investment in early childhood services across Victoria so more families can access a quality kindergarten program close to home.”
