Opening night is Friday, November 29, with doors opening at 7pm.
Tickets for opening night are $15 per person, and this includes finger food and the first opportunity to buy any of the artworks in the exhibition.
The show is then open on Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Saturday and Sunday entry is by gold coin donation.
There is also the chance to win a great door prize, and visitors are able to vote for the People’s Choice artwork.
With prizes totalling over $5000, the competition has attracted a wide range of artists, from novices to highly experienced.
For the first time, 3D art is included in the show. There is also a special young artist award and a local content award.
These promise to make the exhibition a varied and interesting show.
Also, this year there will be a Christmas pop-up market on Saturday and Sunday featuring small items for sale supplied by members of the Seymour and District Art Society.
You can pick up everything from cards, calendars and bags to books, mugs, prints and more.
An S&DAS spokesperson said it was a great opportunity to pick up unusual and maybe last-minute Christmas gifts for that difficult-to-buy-for someone.
“At the close of the show on Sunday, the S&DAS annual raffle will be drawn,” the spokesperson said.
“You have to be in to win it, and this year there are some great prizes.”
- First prize: A beautiful watercolour painting, Eastern Spinebill in Pin Cushion Hakea, painted by the society’s president, Dr Terri MacDonald, and valued at $1200.
- Second prize: An electric barbecue valued at $120.
- Third prize: A mini portable greenhouse valued at $80.
- Fourth prize: Two metal planters valued at $70.
Tickets are $2 each and available at the show.
The Art Society is always on the lookout for new members.
You don’t have to be able to paint. It runs several workshops every year where various techniques and media are taught by experienced and well-versed artists.
