Paired with amazing tallies from other towns - $15,735 and counting from Tocumwal and $27,000 and counting from Jerilderie - the Southern Riverina can be proud.
A team of Finley volunteers were out and about on Good Friday for the annual fundraiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital, lead by local coordinator Vanessa Kydd.
Mrs Kydd said the ‘Green Team’ town volunteers managed to collect $5937.85 on the day, and the ‘Purple Team’ collecting at the Finley and Deni Rams football netball matches raised $1827.20.
Another $2259 had been donated online at the time of reporting.
“If you would like to donate for the 2025 Good Friday Appeal, you can still contribute via our fundraising link at https://fundraise.goodfridayappeal.com.au/fundraisers/Finley,” Mrs Kydd said.
“A massive thank you to the local Finley community for your donations. It is greatly appreciated.
“We also have new tins waiting to be filled up around town.”
Mrs Kydd thanked the team of volunteers, which included Sally, Gary and Tiarna Carr, Cherilyn Taig, Craig O'Donnell, Melanie Evans, Kaylene Dawe, Wendy Coates, Sophie O'Donnell, Sue Hynes, Jessica Gatty, Jess Jackson, Elyse Price, Lynette Pascoe and Daniel Kydd.
“Community events in our area don't just magically appear, and they're not fuelled by pixie dust.
“They are run by very hard-working volunteers and community organisations, and our Good Friday Appeal Finley team has once again done an excellent job.
“Congratulations also to to Lyn Bergmans for winning the 'Interhamper'.”
