With five courageous students leading the way, the school’s Student Representative Council had the idea of raising funds and awareness for the MND Foundation.
The day was filled with heartfelt stories, enthusiastic participation and a great display of school spirit.
The highlight of the day was a special assembly, where Robyne Sneddon, a retired BPS teacher, returned to share her personal journey of her husband Ian and his battle with MND.
Mrs Sneddon touched the hearts of those present, reminding everyone of the importance of supporting fundraising efforts to help find a cure as soon as possible.
To get into the spirit of day, students and staff adorned themselves in shades of blue, representing the MND Foundation's signature colour.
The Student Representative Council took charge of organising a special meal deal, offering delicious treats to raise funds.
They also sold MND Foundation Big Freeze socks to add to the fundraising tally.
The stand out moment of the event was the iconic ice bucket challenge, where participants dressed up in fun costumes, eliciting laughter and amusement from the audience.
Five brave students volunteered to undergo the icy drenching having buckets tipped on them by friends and teachers.
The Berrigan Children's Centre joined the event, bringing along their enthusiastic four-year-old group to be part of the Big Freeze.
“The Big Freeze fundraiser at Berrigan Public School was not just about raising funds, it was also about creating awareness of MND and why it is important to buy a beanie or make a donation if you are able to,” SRC teacher, Emma Phillips said.
