Carbon farming workshops will be held at Avenel and Tatura.

Livestock producers have been invited to free workshops on carbon farming and emissions accounting at Avenel and Tatura in November.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority is partnering in the events that feature agronomist, industry advisor and farmer, Cam Nicholson, from Nicon Rural Service as guest speaker.

Goulburn Broken CMA sustainable agriculture facilitator, Rhiannon Sandford, said Mr Nicholson was an exceptional and knowledgeable speaker on carbon farming.

“Cam will address where the drive for carbon management and emissions accounting is coming from, when and how we can act and how actions can improve the farm bottom line through productivity outcomes,” Ms Sandford said.

“Regular enquiries we receive such as how land management can increase soil organic carbon, eligibility for carbon credit projects or how farm emissions relate to supply chain requirements for carbon and greenhouse gas accounting can be answered at this event.

“For many farmers, thinking about emissions is an additional layer of information and potentially farm accounting to get their head around. This is an opportunity to make sense of it all.”

These workshops are delivered in partnership with Agriculture Victoria and Landcare Victoria.

Workshop registration is essential by November 6.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The events will take place at Avenel Memorial Hall, on Wednesday, November 13 from 9.30am to 3pm, and Tatura Smart Farm on Thursday, November 14, from 10am to 3pm.
