Former Tocumwal resident and master mechanic Graeme Vidler recently returned to his hometown, where he was surprised with a surprise 80th birthday celebration.
The party was held at the Terminus Hotel on November 25, and attended by “all his favourite people”.
Graeme and his wife Maxine travelled from Drouin for the visit, with their eldest daughter Karen and her partner Bruce.
They met with their other two children, Dennis and Julie and their families, who came from Sydney to join in on the celebrations.
Graeme felt incredibly lucky and loved to be surprised by his brother Andrew Vidler, from Strathmerton, and sister Gail Gibbs, from Griffith, who also made the hike to Tocumwal with their families.
The Vidlers were joined by cousins and friends from around the Tocumwal area and many other loved ones who travelled from near and far to help celebrate the former Tocumwal native.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Graeme was reunited with previous employees of Vidler Motors, along with old work mates from the Toc Golf Club, where he kick started his gradual decent into retirement working on mowers to help keep the golf greens in good nick.
Overall, the day was enjoyed by all 70 attendees, who occupied the beer garden area of the Terminus Hotel with finger food and pizza, with many a drink in toast to a very special man.
Thank you to Lorraine Miles who helped with the organising, Amy Batten from Berrigan for the family photo shoot, and the new owners of what was Vidler Motors - soon to be Tocumwal Brewing Co - for allowing the family access to the site for the photos.
