“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2: 1-2 NIV).
When we first place our life in God’s hands, He forgives us for all of the sin we have ever committed.
Not only that, he forgets we ever committed them.
His grace covers all of our imperfections when we come into a living relationship with Him.
He becomes our Lord, our Saviour and our friend.
If we knowingly sin from that point on, we have to come to him and ask for His forgiveness.
To receive forgiveness we have to come to him with a sorrowful heart. When we repent He washes away our sins.
Secrets and sin harm our relationship with God, just like they harm any friendship we have.
To stay close we have to make sure there are no barriers to our friendship.
A clear conscience keeps us in a right relationship with Him.
Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.
