The Tocumwal Mother’s Day Classic has become an important event on Tocumwal’s annual calendar over the past decade, raising vital funds for breast and ovarian cancer research.

The 2025 event is now in jeopardy, with an urgent call out for people to join the committee.
Without new members, the event will not be held in Tocumwal in 2025.
If you are able to assist, please contact Kim Sutton on 0438 833 199 or email Kim@kimden.com.au or Jenny via email jenny@gsraircon.com.au or by calling 0439 451 805.
In the past, Tocumwal has run some incredible events like the Big Breakfast on the Foreshore and annual rodeo, which have been lost due to lack of committee members.
It would be such a shame to also lose the Mother’s Day Classic.

Earlier this year, the ‘Tocumwal Tells’ column reported on a request for community assistance in finding a family connection of Miss Elizabeth Lang and Mr Alexander Lang, late of ‘Pine Lodge’, Tocumwal.
These two were prominent members of the Tocumwal Presbyterian Church congregation in the early 1900s.
The Hall Committee had in its possession, for safe keeping, the St David's Presbyterian Church Tocumwal Foundation Stone which was laid by Miss Lang on August 9, 1911, and a memorial stone for Mr Alexander Lang noting his death on April 7, 1933.
These stones were salvaged when the church was demolished circa 2012.
There was a positive outcome to that article with family members located, who travelled to Tocumwal to collect the items.
Tocumwal War Memorial Hall secretary, Marg Close, asked the family for a small history piece about the family's time at ‘Pine Lodge’ and received some photos in return.
The Lang family had the property ‘Pine Lodge’ from 1814-1978.
The foundation stone, memorial stone and two full sized memorial leadlight windows are now in Bendigo, safe in the keeping of grateful family members.
You may remember from an earlier article that Miss Lang (Eliza) was presented with the silver trowel after the laying of the foundation stone on August 9, 1911, and that trowel is now kept by her great niece, Libby Lang, still in the original box.
This is such a wonderful outcome for this story, and a credit to the Tocumwal War Memorial Hall Committee on returning these precious pieces of history to these family members.

A reminder that the Tocumwal Community Development Committee’s Kids Gone Fishing Day is on this Sunday, December 1.
Whether they are seasoned little anglers or wetting a line for the first time, bring your kids for a free day of learning, fun and adventure.
Registrations are essential and can be made at Hook'd on the Murray Tackle Shop (see Joey), or on the day from 8am at the old boat ramp at the Tocumwal Foreshore.
There will be draws for 20 rod and reel combos, a casting competition for a chance to win one of four more rod and reel combos and of course a fun day of fishing.
A sausage sizzle will be available from 8am to 12pm which will be free for kids and a gold coin donation for adults.
The Tocumwal Community Development Committee have stressed that this is a family fun day, not a fishing competition.
