Students from Blighty Public School, Finley Public School and St Joseph’s Catholic School took part too.
Judges Jill Braybon and Garry Blackney were highly impressed by the knowledge and confidence shown by the participants.
Level 3-4 students were asked to give a short presentation on ‘where you would like to go for a holiday and why?’.
The level 5-6 student topic was ‘introducing a person from the 1900s at a special event being held for them’ in four minutes.
The older students were then given ten minutes to produce an impromptu, one minute presentation on ‘a live hero you would like to invite to dinner and why?’.
Daniela Canas Ventura from Finley Public School was the winner of level 3-4 section.
Eloise Harris from St Joseph’s was the level 5-6 winner.
Both were presented with their certificates by Finley Lions Club President Chris Horne.

At the conclusion of the public speaking event, Finley Lions Club president Chris Horne presented relieving school principal Angela Sampson with a cheque.
It was a generous contribution to the newly installed communication system.
Ms Sampson - originally from Wollongong, and recently from Griffith - expressed her thanks to the club and stated “I am enjoying my time in Finley. I came expecting to be here for a short period, which has now been extended to 12 months”.
Rumour has it that Mrs Ruth Haynes is making full use of the communication system and enjoying it immensely.

The Finley Hospital Auxiliary Op Shop has a very important and valuable item on sale at the moment, which could be of great interest to Geelong Football Club supporters.
Especially so with the Cats taking part in the 2022 grand final at the weekend.
The Op Shop has been offered a Geelong Football Club membership ticket from 1926 for sale.
It will go to the highest bidder. Proceeds will go to the Finley Hospital Auxiliary funds.
Those interested can leave their details and the offer amount at the shop for consideration.
These great volunteers have also had a lovely display in the front window in recognition of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II - some very memorable moments in history.

An attempt is still being made to contact the winner of last Saturday’s Finley Lions Club wood raffle. No response has been received to repeated telephone calls by the organisers.
If you purchased a ticket, make sure you check your message bank.
All tickets will be going into the final draw for the fire pit this Saturday.

The Finley Food Bank advises they will be operating as normal tomorrow, despite the National Day of Mourning public holiday.
They welcome any donations.

Unfortunately, there was a mistake made in the editing of last week’s item referring to the Finley Lions Club conducting the barbecue at Finley Golf Club Pink Day, organised by Joanne Dean.
The community can be assured the donation was made by the Finley Lions Club to Joanne’s fundraising for cancer research, not the reverse as misedited.
