Comprising six completely new models, the new MF 8S Series continues to impress in Australia and New Zealand.
Built on a 3.05m wheelbase and featuring maximum power ratings from 205hp to 305hp, plus an extra 20hp from the brand’s Engine Power Management (EPM) system, the brand says the new line-up ushers in a "new era of straightforward and dependable tractors, delivering new levels of comfort and efficiency for fully connected smart and sustainable farming".
The new range also brings with it a new model nomenclature.
Taking the MF 8S.265 model as an example, the eight stands for the series, the ‘S’ stands for the specification level and the last three digits are the maximum power.
“This completely new design delivers the next level of straightforward and dependable tractors that operators asked for,” Massey Ferguson product manager Raph Hymus said.
“They told us they need a tractor that is comfortable, with unrivalled visibility, efficient, easy to use and smart.
“Massey Ferguson has responded, straight to the point, with the MF 8S and the associated services.”
Flush with features
The new range, which is offered exclusively in Australia and New Zealand, comprises the Massey Ferguson MF 8S.205, MF 8S.225, MF 8 S.245, MF 8S.265, MF 8S.285, and MF 8S.305.
Powered by a 7.4-litre six-cylinder engine with any of three different transmissions, the line-up also encompasses the following features:
• A completely new and spacious 3.4m³ volume cab, with excellent visibility and a unique ‘Protect-U’ design to minimise heat, noise and vibration.
• Optimum control and smart farming capability courtesy of the MF vDisplay digital dashboard, Datatronic 5 terminal and a new comprehensive MultiPad control lever with ergonomic ‘control centre’ armrest.
• Two completely new transmissions said to reduce power losses by 26 per cent while improving fuel economy by up to 10 per cent. The new Dyna E-Power dual clutch transmission combines the feeling of a CVT with the efficiency of a directly mechanically driven transmission, while the Dyna-7 Semi-Powershift now offers 28 forward and reverse speeds. Meanwhile, the well-respected Dyna VT rounds out the transmission offering.
• A new rear axle combined with more oil flow which improves efficiency and versatility. With up to 10 per cent more traction power and 20 per cent more flow, it enables the use of wider, more productive implements and machines to improve performance and reduce costs.
• MF 8S Series tractors come standard with MF Connect Telemetry and optional MF Task Doc data transfer software, allowing users to make management decisions to maximise efficiency and productivity.
High comfort cab combines comfort, visibility, and connectivity
With its 24cm gap separating the cab from the engine, the ‘Protect-U’ concept completely insulates the cab from noise, heat, and vibrations.
With noise levels of just 68 decibels, it is one of the quietest in the market and, with an interior volume of 3.4m³, it is also one of the most spacious.
With 6.6m² glass area, it is a light and airy workplace boasting unrivalled space and visibility.
Replacing the dashboard with the new digital MF vDisplay terminal, fitted to the right pillar, leaves just the steering wheel and power control lever in front of the driver, providing exceptional forward visibility over the slim, super wasp-waisted bonnet.
The MF vDisplay digital dashboard shows all the tractor information at a glance.
Easy to read and with intuitive operation, its clear display can be personalised and changed by simply scrolling through settings with a rotary knob by the steering wheel.
The new control centre armrest is fitted with the latest easy-to-use MultiPad lever providing complete fingertip control.
This ISOBUS compatible lever operates all the tractor functions and includes an integral micro-joystick to control two spool valves.
The updated Datatronic 5 (with new glossy front glass and user interface) is mounted on an adjustable arm.
This nine inch touch screen terminal is as easy and intuitive to use as any mobile phones or tablets.
It is a single screen system for controlling the tractor functions and manage all MF technologies such as MF Guide, MF Section and Rate Control as well as MF Task Doc data capture and transfer.
Unique encapsulated engine
The distinctive, award winning Protect-U design with its 24cm gap between the cab and the engine installation sets the MF 8S Series apart from all other tractors.
As well as reducing heat, noise and vibrations being transmitted to the cab, the unique encapsulated engine position improves cooling and performance.
Air drawn in from the middle of the tractor, behind the engine, is cleaner than that from the standard position.
This clean air helps reduce the load on the main air filter while optimising engine performance.
This innovative design greatly improves accessibility for cleaning the radiators too.
It makes it easier to carry out regular maintenance, and will improve reliability and help reduce downtime.
