Farewell to vibrant footpath mural

The material used only had a limited life, and must be removed for safety reasons.

“These beautiful artworks have been enjoyed by many, but are now coming to the end of their lifespan,” a council spokesperson said.

“In the interests of public safety and preventing slip risks, council is organising to have the installation removed at the end of the month.”

The installation was part of the Energising End Street project, brought to life with the support of the NSW Government Department of Planning and Environment, Streets as Shared Spaces program.

Council hopes more vibrant community arts projects like this can be planned for the future to “enliven our spaces and connect our community”.

The original mural the street art was based on can be viewed at Kurrajong in Napier St.
