For the first time since COVID hit the world and our community, the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Finley held its fete last Saturday, with the theme being ‘Rainbow’.

Fr Fredrick and Rev Gemma Le Measurier certainly played the part in their colourful outfits.
It was a perfect spring day and parishioners from the surrounding towns who make up the parish presented a wonderful array of stalls and entertainment; all of which contributed to the success of the fete.
The organisers would like to thank members of the various communities for their support and look forward to repeating the event in 2025.

An enthusiastic group who attended the ‘Unlocking Hope No. 11 – Understanding Dementia’ organised by the Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance were treated to two very informative presentations on Thursday at the Finley Returned Soldiers Club.
Sally Carrington - from Care Finder, Murrumbidgee South for Uniting Aged Care and working in Berrigan - gave attendees an insight into the invaluable work she has been doing in the area, helping people in the short time she has been here at no cost, to access all the care programs that are available.
Alison Luelf was the second speaker and addressed carers particularly about preparing in advance for the progressive onset of dementia, whether that onset is fast or slow.
Alison provided valuable advice on strategies that can help carers to cope with the challenges they can and will face.
The next Unlocking Hope presentation will be on Thursday, November 14, at the Finley RS Club - 10.15am for 10.30am.
The speaker will be Julie Mecham, an invaluable committee member of the Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance, and project officer palliative care for the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network.

The Finley Local Health Advisory Committee is still seeking members of the community to take part in the Blood Bank drive which has been organised to go to Shepparton on Saturday, October 26.
The group booking has been made for 8.30am until 11am.
By donating blood, you give a chance at life to those in need.

Finley 2nd Hand Shop volunteers Ken Gardener and Kaylene Dawe presented a donation to Kate Walsh (center) from the Finley Swimming Pool management committee.
With the weather warming up, it is expected that the Finley Swimming Pool will open for the 2024/25 season the second weekend in November.
The management committee will be busy having working bees starting on October 23 to bring the facility up to the usual high standard and would appreciate any help from the public.

With projects such as maintaining the vacuum system, replacing lane ropes and many other routine procedures to be done, the committee was delighted to have a very generous donation from the Finley 2nd Hand Shop recently.
Both these groups work hard to give back to our community; one providing an excellent facility for teaching lifesaving skills and the other providing financial support to many organisations in the town and all on a voluntary basis.
New members are most welcome to join at any time and would be very much appreciated.
