Ian Vincent Scott of Berrigan died peacefully on September 11, 2020 at the Berrigan Hospital.Founder of Scottie’s Machinery, Berrigan, Ian was a valued community member, employer, and contributor to the town. As a member of the Berrigan and District Development Association (BDDA), of which he spent three terms as chair, his focus was always on bringing business to the town. He attended St Mary’s Catholic School and Colac Technical School before leaving at the age of 14 to work on the family dairy and potato farm. Ian and his wife Beverley moved to Berrigan in 1980 when they purchased ‘Tarcoola’, a 275ha (680 acre) mixed cropping property on Piney Road. Ian was a natural mechanic and an early adopter of progressive cropping methods. With a commitment to service, sales extended to all states of Australia, from the Northern Territory to Tasmania, as well as some overseas locations including Tanzania in Africa.Diagnosed with terminal cancer in January this year, Scottie remained positive throughout his treatment and barely took a day off work.He is survived by his loving wife Beverley (nee Alexander), his four children Drew, Shona, Karli and Stacey and 13 grandchildren.Much too loved to ever be forgotten.
