An invitation is extended to everyone to take part in this very important commemoration day.
Remembrance Day has been observed since the end of World War I to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. However, in recent times, we honour those who have fought and fallen in all areas of conflict.
You might wonder at the importance of ‘The Last Post’ and why it is used in commemorative services. It was the common bugle call at the close of the military day, and ‘The Rouse’ was the first call of the morning.
So please, let us gather as a community to honour those who fought so bravely to give us the freedom we have today.
Members of the Finley RSL Sub-branch will be located outside Finley IGA in the lead up to Remembrance Day selling the traditional poppies and other memorabilia.

The Finley Hospital Auxiliary members are grateful for the support of the community in donating good clean items for sale in the Opportunity Shop. The auxiliary has donated many items of necessity to the local hospital including beds, televisions, a special trolley, many smaller items, and is sponsoring a student in school-based nursing training.
The group is looking forward to helping with ‘new’ needs when the hospital has its upgrade. With a good supply of clothing, the sale is continuing into November, and this is a great opportunity to call into the shop, grab some bargains and have a chat with the lovely volunteers.

Jenny Tarrant has once again been busy fundraising for various charities. The recent street stall to assist cancer research was very successful and Jenny would like to sincerely thank Shirley Gray who consistently helps with this fundraising. Jan Gray was the lucky winner of the Weekend Bake raffle prize and was reportedly thrilled with her success.
Jenny, with the help of Shirley, will also be holding another street stall, this time for MND, on December 18 with a special Christmas theme. There will be lots of puddings and other Christmas delights so be sure to mark this date on your calendar.
