Firefighters from the Southern Riverina region were among 25 flown out of Albury on Monday to assist flood ravaged regions.
The call for assistance came in late last week, and by the weekend a strike team had been formed.

Putting their hand up were three firefighters attached to the Berrigan Rural Fire Service — Riley Nolen, Lauren McAndrew and Ian Hovenden — and Joe Mula from the Jerilderie Rural Fire Service.
They each departed Albury at 8.30am on Monday, headed for Ballina.
They were expected to be put to work yesterday, and continue assisting today and tomorrow before making their way home again on Friday.
It was not clear at the time of going to print which community the local firefighters would be deployed to.
RFS efforts usually involve using firefighting equipment to hose out mud and remove hard waste from inundated properties.
‘‘We’re incredibly proud of our volunteers who rose to the occasion and rolled up their sleeves for yet another worthy cause,’’ said RFS Federation Zone Group Captain Greyd’n Davis.
