Either way, the Deniliquin Business Chamber’s stall in the Deniliquin CBD on Saturday morning was a huge hit.
Chamber members were there to greet locals and visitors alike, and show off their latest idea.
They have produced a range of new children’s shirts brandishing chamber’s bunny logo, and the slogan ‘Made in Deni’ - a play on the old town motto ‘Do it in Deni’.
“They are perfect for gifts, everyday wear or a fun photo op — these tees are comfy, cool, and totally adorable,” Chamber said.
Adults are covered too, with the iconic Do it in Deni tees back in stock and ready to wear loud and proud.
The new tops are available at Peppin Heritage Centre, edith elsie and Deniliquin Riverside Caravan Park.
Well behaved rodeo crowd
The Deniliquin Rodeo on Easter Saturday attracted a “massive crowd” for a full evening of thrills and spills.
The Australia Pro Rodeo Circuit event had something for everyone - competing cowboys and cowgirls, amateur competitions, sideshows, catering, drinks and more.
As is tradition, the Easter Bunny made an appearance, handing out Easter chocolate to all those who surrounded the rodeo arena on Racecourse Rd.
Other fun activities included the dance contest - with about 50 kids invited into the rodeo arena to take part - and the mullet competition.
It’s not just rodeo fans who were full of praise for the event, either.
Murray River Police District Chief Inspector Michael Fuller said he was impressed with how it was run by the local committee.
“Deniliquin Police commend the organisers and event patrons for a great event,” Chief Insp Fuller said.
“There were no incidents reported to police.”
With APRA competitors moving on to Finley for another event on Easter Sunday, full results from Deniliquin’s event were not available at the time of going to print yesterday.
We’ll have photos and details in our Friday edition.
False alarm fire
It was an extremely busy weekend for Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW firefighters.
Their long weekend started early on Good Friday when they were called to the shop fire in Napier St, Deniliquin (see page 1), and continued when they visited local caravan parks on their traditional Good Friday donation run.
The fireys got a bit of a rest on Saturday and Sunday, but they were called to action again about 2.30am Easter Monday.
Thankfully, this time it was a false alarm,
The automatic fire alarm at the Deniliquin Court House had sounded.
No fire or smoke could be found.
Deputy Capt Les Booth said the most likely cause was an alarm panel malfunction.
PT closed on Friday
It’s another short week for most people this week, with Anzac Day quickly following Easter.
Our paper will still hit the shelves as normal on Friday, but our PT offices will be closed for the day.
