The Finley Lions Club’s wood raffle season came to an end last Saturday and the members would like to thank the community for once again supporting this great fundraiser.

More than $6000 was the result of the time and hard work commitment made by the members and will be used to assist the many projects carried out by the Club.
Grace Dunn was given the very important task of drawing out the last lucky ticket of the year, and Col ‘Spud’ Drury was the winner.
Tickets purchased over the last few weeks were retained and entered into the draw for the fire pit constructed by John O’Rourke.
Trish Jackson was delighted to have the pit delivered to her, as she and her son Matt have been constant supporters of the wood raffle for several years.
There is no doubt many will miss having a chat to the members on duty each week, but they will return next winter.
As with most organisations in the community, the Lions Club could always benefit from the assistance of new members - particularly in the younger age group.
Meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Tuppal Hotel, 7pm for 7.30pm start.
Further information can be obtained by contacting president Ian Taig on 0427 279 405.

The Lions Club is also happy to announce they are now able to recommence the Driver Reviver project in Finley, operating from the fire station as before.
Visitors passing through the town will be able to stop and have a break, a cup of tea or coffee and a talk to the volunteers at the start and finish of Victorian school holidays, Christmas and Easter. This re-starts this Saturday.
An invitation is extended to anyone who would like to assist with this project.
Each shift is about three hours, however even an hour or two would be appreciated.
It is amazing the number of interesting people who stop and chat and love to hear about our local community.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Bill Rowlands on 0458 720 039.

Finley Regional Care Auxiliary would like to thank members of the community for the wonderful support given to the very successful street stall held last Friday.
It was decided to hold over the drawing of the raffle of dinner for two at the Finley RS Club until a later date, to give people a further opportunity to purchase tickets.
As advised previously, the quilt being raffled will be drawn at the Spring Fair which will take place on October 21 at Finley Regional Care.

Members of the Service clubs in Finley continue to give back to the local community on a regular basis
A wonderful example of this is the financial contribution Finley Apex Club recently made towards the upgrade of Finley Cricket Club’s cricket roller.
Ryan Donkin from the cricket club took the opportunity to thank the Apex Club when he showed off the new roller to Apex member Mitch McLennan. It is believed the pair might even have taken it for a spin.
