Melanie Cattell has joined the Berrigan catholic school after moving from Henschke Primary School in Wagga Wagga.
Her husband Jono has taken up a position on a farm between Berrigan and Finley.
After two weeks with her new school Mrs Cattell said she is already enjoying it.
‘‘Teaching at a smaller school gives me an opportunity to get to know the students really well.
‘‘At Henschke we had 580 students and you knew the students by the end, however with this environment I can be more involved with the students, staff and parents.
‘‘This is my seventh year teaching and I love seeing the development of the student from the start of the school year right until the end.
‘‘All students grow in so many different ways and that’s a real positive,” Mrs Cattell said.
Principal Damien Taylor said the appointment of Mrs Cattell was important for the small school.
‘‘It is a fresh face around the school and the students are excited to have a new teacher.
‘‘As she is from a bigger school she can bring that experience with her.
‘‘She’s bubbly and enthusiastic and we are always looking for that type of injection into the classroom,’’ Mr Taylor said.
