The Acting Director of War Graves, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, authorised this work to be carried out and the memorial will now be maintained in perpetuity on behalf of the RSL Sub-branch and the family.
Mr Walters’ granddaughter, Wendy Frazier, originally approached the Sub-branch to have the work carried out and is extremely happy with the results.
Don was particularly pleased to note that the adjoining grave of Private RHT Ibbotson had been restored while the work was being carried out.
Unfortunately, he has been unable to trace any reference to members of Private Ibbotson’s family.

The organisers are hoping the current wet weather, which has disrupted so many outdoor activities lately, will have no effect on the Finley Springtime Gardens Day to be held on Sunday, November 6 from 9am until 4pm.
Six beautiful gardens will be on display for a small cost of $20 per person (children free) and will include a complimentary morning tea.
Along with the very popular plant stall, there will be displays of art and mosaic pieces, pottery stalls, free face painting for the children and a floral demonstration at 11am and 2pm.
A light lunch will be available for a small cost.
Tickets can only be purchased at the Finley Memorial Park from 9am.
Gardens will remain open until 4pm.
All proceeds will be used to provide extra facilities for Finley Regional Care residents.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Bernie Agosta on 0417 897 462 or Susan Hand on 0419 831 544
