Courtesy of the partnership between Moira Shire Council, NCN Health and Yarrawonga Health, the Moira Shire community can enjoy a month-long celebration of active living.
Move Moira Get Active in April encourages community members of all ages and abilities to prioritise their health by incorporating just 30 minutes of movement into their daily routines.
Council chair of the panel of administrators John Tanner said together, locals could create a healthier, more vibrant community,
“We want to empower our residents to find joy in movement and embrace a healthier lifestyle,” he said.
“Whether it’s trying a new sport, supporting local clubs, or simply taking a walk in the park — every little bit counts.”
In Cobram, Al’s Skate Co from Wodonga is hitting the road to present its All Abilities Skateboard and Art Workshop on Friday, April 12 at Federation Park.
The free workshop, which begins at 10am, will include Al’s Skate Co’s custom-built ‘Freedom Frame’, which enables people with physical or cognitive impairments to experience the thrill of being able to skate, via the frame, which includes a harness mechanism to ensure all people are safe to ride.
NCN Health manager health promotion and community development Jenny Burrows said she hoped all ages and abilities would take advantage of what was on offer during Active April.
“Participating in Active April fosters a culture of wellness and physical activity within the community, making us all happier and healthier,” she said.
