The group reported bike numbers were up 50 per cent from the 2023 event, with perfect conditions and weather for a ride from the Farmers Arms Hotel Tocumwal to Finley, Berrigan, Barooga and back to Tocumwal.
“It was perfect weather, and great company with lots of helpers,” reports CanAssist treasurer Lorraine Blain.
“There was a great team of volunteers cooking bacon and egg rolls which were thoroughly enjoyed by our community and Kruze participants, plus a crew on the registration and raffle table.”
There was a prize awarded for best bike and best sponsor who raised the most money for their efforts, and a raffle of lucky numbers.
The generous raffle winners of $200 and $50 respectively both donated their winnings back to the cause.
A profit of $5363 was made from the event after prizes and expenses to go directly to those touched by cancer in Tocumwal and surrounds.
Tocumwal CanAssist spends a lot of money each year on patient support, so this fundraiser made a massive contribution to its annual fundraising total.
The group extends thanks to the many fundraisers who contributed financially to the cause, and the many local businesses who sponsored the event.
“All of the money raised stays in Tocumwal,” explained health liaison Helen Beer.
“Money raised from functions goes towards petrol vouchers, pharmacy bills, travel, accommodation, home care and maintenance and much more,” she said.
“We even cover things like electric beds and procedures that aren’t completely subsidised by Medicare.
“There are always new things cropping up that need covering.”
