Playing the role of Pharaoh, Shane showed just what versatile skills he has.
Starting out his adult life as a prominent AFL footballer, Shane went on to become involved in several television programs and an ambassador for Breast Cancer Network, Australia.
When asked how he feels about taking part in this infamous musical, Shane said “I am finding it very exciting and, although nervous for the first show today, I feel more confident and enjoy the company of the others taking part. It is fun but challenging: like being part of a footy team. Everyone has their part to play and the good thing is, there are no losses unlike footy; everyone goes home a winner”.
Shane plays alongside Euan Fistrovic Doidge (Kinky Boots, Priscilla Queen of the Dessert) as Joseph and Paulini (The Bodyguard, Australian Idol) as the narrator.
The musical was well received by those who were able to purchase tickets for the first performance.
Thanks to Helen Wastle, her daughter Katrina and son-in-law Glenn, your correspondent had the opportunity to attend the performance and catch up with Shane after the show.
We were fortunate to also meet Euan and Paulini, as well as one of the production managers.
At this stage, Shane is not planning to follow on in the musical in Sydney, as he would like to spend time with his family.
However, if given the opportunity, he will join up with the crew in Perth.

A special program to help women ‘Get into Golf’ came to a conclusion on Sunday morning with 19 participants taking part.
This program, thanks to funding from Golf NSW, was free for the first 10 taking part. Due to the level of interest shown, the number was able to be extended.
Lessons were held over six weeks and were conducted by Golf Australia accredited coaches Sharon Pyle, Janet Delmenico and Brett Murphy.
Each week a different skill including putting, chipping, driving and iron shots were covered. The grip and swing were checked as well as the mental aspects of the game.
The final weeks saw the women get out onto the course and practise their skill with positive feedback all around for the friendships, laughs and fun golf.
The next step is for a relaxed social golf meet-up for those wishing to play.
