Benalla Highway Patrol officers impounded a car after it was detected allegedly speeding on the Hume Fwy, on Tuesday, November 12. Police received numerous calls regarding a speeding vehicle on the Hume Fwy. At about 7.40pm police allegedly detected the vehicle travelling at 191km/h at Baddaginnie.
The Mazda was intercepted by police, who determined the 20-year-old male driver had a suspended probationary licence. The Mazda was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1260. The driver will receive a summons to attend court.
Inquiries continue until the cows come home
Police are investigating the possible theft of four cattle near the Hume Fwy and Emu Bridge Rd, Benalla, during October. The cattle included two pregnant cows, a brown and white Hereford cross shorthorn, a brown Hereford cow, a black and white calf and a brown and white calf. It is possible the cattle were in the vicinity of Holland Creek. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the cattle in that vicinity or being loaded on to a trailer to contact Benalla Police Station on 5760 0200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
