The Finley Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society is returning to stage with the play ‘The Outback Debutante Ball’, after almost two years in recess.
The premier will take place on May 30, and $25 NSW Dine and Discover vouchers can be used to cover the cost of entry.
With an exciting, fast paced and funny plot, and plenty of twists and turns, FADAMS is sure to make the show worth the wait.
Written by Judith Prior, the ‘Outback Debutante Ball’ is a biting satire of regional Australia with a fantastical twist.
FADAMS member Ross Whittaker says it will will take the audience on a ‘‘wild, funny ride’’.
‘‘We were on our third rehearsal of our 2020 show last year when COVID struck, which was the first time in 46 years we haven’t done the show,’’ Mr Whittaker said.
‘‘It’s a show about a debutante ball. A member of parliament is coming to have six debutantes presented to him — and they’ve got to impress him because he’s going to sign off a grant to renovate the hall.
‘‘People will get the irony of it,’’ said Mr Whittaker, referencing the Finley School of Art Hall’s own renovation two years ago.
Catering is not possible because of COVID-19 regulation, so guests can bring their own food and drinks to the show and take part in the fun.
‘‘There’s a bit of romance in there, plenty of humour. Everything goes wrong (as part of the plot).
‘‘It’s a family show. It’s just funny, it’s old fashioned, you can make people laugh without offending anybody.’’
Tickets, which are $25, are available from Finley Betta Electrical.
After opening night at 7.30pm on May 30, performances will take place on June 4, 5, 18 and 19.
