The Seymour Junior Netball Club recently held its Annual Pink Day to support breast cancer awareness.

Seymour Junior Netball Association president David Allen said May 25 was a filled with fun at a home game where different teams across the region supported the event.
“It's a big event at a home game where all the kids get up and support Breast Cancer Network Australia,” he said.
The pink themed day saw teams from Wandong, Broadford, and Pyalong play with the Seymour Junior Netball Team.
“We campaign, we sell stuff that might be some pink things like some pink cupcakes as well, and we also ran a raffle,” Mr Allen said.
“The prizes for the raffle are from parents in the club, so it's really a club generator.
“(It) generates a lot of the revenue back to Breast Cancer Network Australia.”

Seymour Junior Netball Association vice-president Anne-Marie Meller said the club has been celebrating Pink Day for over 10 years, and it just keeps achieving better results.
This year, they raised a total of $2100 to be donated to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
“We raised a lot more this year,” she said.
“Last year was about $1100, so it was an extra thousand this year.
“We had a lot more families (supporting) this year, as well.”
Besides the raffles and goodies sold, the netball club also played their regular Saturday games.
“We had games with our under nines, our little leagues who did really well,” Mr Allen said.
“Our under 11s also played well, but not successful.”
They also held a Parents v Kids game for their NetSetGo, a program designed for kids aged five to 10 years old who want to learn how to play netball for the first time.
“We had a game against their parents,” Mr Allen said.
“I must say some of the parents got a little bit competitive!”
“That was a lot of fun.”
They capped the day with a game with the Under 15s, with Seymour receiving the victory.
The Seymour Netball Junior Club thanks the community who joined in their initiative for Pink Day.
“I think we need to recognise the families of the local area for their donations, for the prizes, their participation in the events, and their fundraising overall,” Mr Allen said.
