On Thursday, January 2, Berrigan Rural Fire Service attended a single motor vehicle crash on the Riverina Hwy, just outside Savernake.
Arriving at 12pm, the Berrigan Rural Fire Service found a utility vehicle that had left the road and come to a stop in a patch of trees.
Headed toward Corowa, authorities say it appears the 60 year-old male driver made contact with a number of the trees before coming to stop in an area beside the road.
The man was able to free himself from the vehicle before emergency services arrived.
He had to be taken to Albury Base Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The Berrigan Rural Fire Service left the scene just after 1.30pm.
Power pole fire
Finley Rural Fire Service responded to a power pole fire on Friday, January 3, on Woolshed Rd, Finley.
The brigade was alerted to the fire just before 11am and were on site within five minutes.
Upon arrival, the crew found a power pole burning.
While the fire from the power pole did not spread any further, and did not burn anything else, the fire affected the transformer which in turn tripped power to Berrigan.
The Finley RFS had the fire extinguished 20 minutes after arrival, before handing the job over to Energy Australia.
Toc grass fire
A grass fire on Caseys Rd, just outside Berrigan, was attended by the Tocumwal Rural Fire Service on Friday, January 3.
The brigade sent one truck and crew. They arrived on site to the small grass fire at 12.15am. The blaze was extinguished within half an hour.
A cause is unknown.
Cobram house fire
Tocumwal’s Fire + Rescue NSW brigade assisted the Victorian Country Fire Association in Cobram after a fire started in a home on Kobyboyn Rd, Whiteheads Creek on New Year’s Eve.
Arriving at the scene at 11.30pm, Tocumwal sent five firefighters with one pump truck and breathing apparatus to provide support.
Noone was injured at the home, which authorities confirm was not occupied at the time of the fire.
Tocumwal’s firefighters were stood down at midnight.
