Therefore, Services of Remembrance, known as Vietnam Veterans Vigils, will be held throughout Australia - including at Finley - on Thursday, August 3.
At 11am the Finley RSL Sub-branch will hold a service in the Finley cemetery at the grave site of Pte Matthew Loughman, and will then move to the grave site of Roger Hanlon.
Members of the community are invited to attend the service to recognise the sacrifices these two local soldiers made for our country.
In honour of this special occasion, I have compiled histories on both men.
The first, on Pte Loughman, appears on page 5 of today’s edition.
The story on Mr Hanlon will appear next week.

Members of Finley Regional Care Auxiliary are busy making arrangements for the Spring Fair to be held on October 22.
The format of the event will be a market day with stalls from cakes to craft, vegetables to garden plants and beyond.
An invitation is extended to other organisations and individuals who would like to have a stall to be included at the fair.
So be sure to mark this date on the calendar, and give some thought to those extra stalls.

It is anticipated that the financial success of the Finley Regional Care Spring Fair will enable the Auxiliary to supply the facility with a wonderful new program to assist the residents in the form of NeuronsVR therapy.
This is a virtual reality therapy which is proving to be of considerable benefit to aged, dementia and healthcare residents to enrich their quality of life.
For many residents the move into aged care can be very traumatic. They have exchanged their familiar world for a new one that is so foreign to them it can cause many varying emotions.
NeuronsVR has proved shared experiences are a great way to communicate and interact, evoke memories and share new ones to keep the family bond alive and bridge that void.
As could be expected, the cost of this new technology is considerable - $14,000 for a set of five units plus a monthly fee.
Finley Regional Care management would be most appreciative if there are other organisations or individuals who would like to contribute to the cost of this important therapy.
Details can be found by going to https://neuronsvt.com/.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Kylie at Finley Regional Care on (03) 5883 9600.

In even more FRC news, a community garden is being established and thanks must go to Julie Stava for the donation of plants to make this happen.
Some of the herbs have already been put to good use.
