The awards, run by the NSW Tourism Association, celebrate the best of regional tourism across the state and highlight the unique attractions, people and experiences that make towns like Darlington Point stand out.
The NSW Top Tourism Town Awards are an important initiative to recognise and promote the diversity of tourism offerings in NSW, with towns competing in three categories based on their population: Top Tourism Town, Small Tourism Town and Tiny Tourism Town.
With a population of just over 1000, Darlington Point is competing in the Tiny Tourism Town category against other small but exceptional communities from across the state.
Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae OAM expressed immense pride in Darlington Point’s achievement.
She said being named a finalist in the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards is a wonderful recognition of everything that makes Darlington Point such a special place.
Cr McRae said from the rich history and vibrant community spirit to the stunning natural landscapes, Darlington Point offers a unique and welcoming experience for visitors.
“We’re thrilled to have made it this far, and now we need the support of our community and friends to take us to the top,” she said.
The voting period for the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards runs until Sunday, May 4 (11.59 pm).
