Grants of up to $5,000 are available for community groups in the Murray and Riverina regions, among others, to deliver lasting benefits with improved services, facilities, activities and events.
“We are committed to making a positive difference and providing tangible and enduring benefits to regional communities,” said Transgrid stakeholder, regulatory and corporate affairs executive general manager Maryanne Graham.
“Local landowners and community members are at the heart of Australia’s clean energy transition, and we know they are critical to the success of our major transmission projects.”
Transgrid is the company delivering the overhead electricity between Jerilderie and Swan Hill, known as the VNI West line.
Since 2020, more than 275 organisations have shared more than $1 million in grants made available by Transgrid’s Community Partnerships Program.
The funding has helped support numerous initiatives, including local school programs and playgrounds, transport for the elderly, community meal delivery organisations, local volunteer groups, sporting groups and venues, community gardens, and First Nations initiatives.
Applications for grants of up to $5,000 are open until November 8, 2024.
