Already being enjoyed by staff and students, office manager Sandra Coburn said the general public will get their chance to see the upgrades at an official opening ceremony on March 9.
‘‘The community now has a rejuvenated child care facility to cater for the needs of local families,” Ms Coburn said.
‘‘Funding from the Stronger Country Communities Fund has been used on an extension to the front of the premises providing a new staff room, reception area, and a room to be used by school age children, preschool children, visiting allied health professionals and staff who are preparing for the classrooms and studying.
‘‘These works will provide more space for children, staff and our community networks.
‘‘The Community Building Partnership 2019 funding has been used to create an interactive kitchen learning area for children, a renovated storeroom, replace floor coverings, replace window furnishings, repainting of the centre inside and outside, fencing and landscaping of the front outdoor area.
‘‘This part of our renovation will provide educational space for children in the kitchen learning area, and has added a new refreshed look to the centre with new floor coverings and repainting.’’
Ms Coburn said being successful for both grants allowed for the scope of works to be expandeded beyond their initial plans.
Supporting the project was NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton, who said the project was ‘‘well deserved’’.
She will attend the official opening, which will be held at the centre on Stewart St, Berrigan from 10am on Wednesday, March 9.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
NSW Nationals Duty MLC for Murray Wes Fang also applauded the Berrigan Children’s Centre’s vision, and grant success.
‘‘The New South Wales Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund is one of the most successful initiatives for local groups in regional New South Wales, and I am delighted that this newly upgraded centre will benefit families and children in Berrigan and surrounding communities well into the future,’’ he said.
Families considering enrolling their child or children are invited to contact the centre on 5885 2324 or call into the centre at 17 – 19 Stewart St, Berrigan.
