Yarrawonga College P-12 Welfare Officer and Workshop Coordinator Michelle Klowss was very pleased with the exhibition and proud to display the work that students and volunteers have put together over the year.
“We had a wonderful turnout for our exhibition with lots of people from our Yarrawonga community as well as those travelling from out of town just to come and see our exhibition,” Michelle said.
“Students were standing by to provide a guided tour of the exhibition, explaining the intricate details of each item and how they were made.
“Most of the work displayed was created by students. However, some students had a vision of what they liked, but for some reason or another, were unable to complete the task.
“None of the volunteers wanted to disappoint, so through intergenerational collaboration, their vision was brought to life with help from our volunteers, who listened to what they wished for and made their dream come to life.
“At the end of the day, seeing the excitement, pleasure and joy from the students makes everything we do worthwhile.
“Some of the creations included Enchanted Mushrooms: By promoting student's imagination, students have dived into their inner fantasy. Through the assistance of volunteer's student's ideas have been scattered, nurtured, and allowed to flourish.
“Tiny Fingers, making magic with wool: Students have enhanced their fine motor skills through the art sewing using wool on hessian to create a landscape.
“Students found this project to be naturally therapeutic as it allowed students to relax among others and participate in intergenerational collaboration between students of all ages and volunteers.
“To learn the skills of sewing, students participated in a many hands projects by creating the base of the two trees you will see on display.
“Bringing Year 1's Drawings to Life: Students designed their very own drawing of their choice which promoted the development of their creativity and imagination.
“Thanks to the countless hours of a couple of our very talented volunteers, each students drawing was transformed from a drawing on a piece of paper into a real-life character.
“Decorated Mannequins: Creativity connects us to ourselves through uniqueness and identity, which allows individuals to discover a hidden talent.
“Students and volunteers nurtured their creative skills through teamwork, cooperation and problem-solving abilities which allows for confidence in oneself to develop.
“Woodlands Tree: This tree was a many, many hands projects, which has involved students and volunteers from various artistic backgrounds coming together to create this masterpiece.
“Take a step back, to take a moment to just take in the exquisite, detailed creations that are part on this tree.
“Fairy Tree: Students have explored the realm of make believe by creating magical memories within our truly amazing Fairy Tree.
“Like the base of the Enchanted Tree, students also participated in many hours of creative collaboration in a many hands project by creating the base of the tree by sewing wool threads onto hessian.
“When one realises what is achievable, it provides hope. May the next task motivate that person to succeed. No one should be set up to fail.
“We are looking to showcase the amazing work students and volunteers have made; however, we are looking for the perfect location to host our showcase.
