The Berrigan Community Bowls Club season officially opened with the Neville Burke-Mick Bush tournament, sponsored by the Berrigan Bowling Farmers.

In almost perfect conditions there were 22 teams from clubs including Wangaratta, Yarrawonga, Border Golf, Club Mulwala, Rand, Oaklands, Cobram, Jerilderie and Finley,
The winners were the Border Golf team of Col Withers, Garry Presnell and Garry Sanders.
They won on countback by one point from the Finley combination of Tracey Miles, and Norma and Andrew Hill.
A further two points back were Berrigan's Graeme Parr and his team of fellow Berrigan bowler Laurie Way and Terry Hensell from Culcairn.
The final round of the Holy Shield will be played at Jerilderie on Sunday.
The Curlews take on top of the ladder Oaklands in a must win clash if they want to make the final on September 22 at Berrigan.
Leading into the pennant season, Berrigan have two trial matches lined up.
The Curlews play Tocumwal on Saturday, September 21 and Club Mulwala on the evening of September 27.
