While a pair of Eagles were able to stand out individually, with Brett Mahoney (45 disposals, 17 contested possessions, 15 marks, 10 tackles and seven clearances) and Adam Boshevski (38 disposals, nine marks, six one-percenters) dominating, the Lions were able to win some key team stats categories to take the chocolates on the day.

Seymour was +38 in contested possessions, +12 in groundball gets and +10 in hard-ball gets across the clash.

And while Mansfield may have won the overall marks by 16, Seymour took 12 more contested marks at Kings Park to take control of the aerial battle.

The seven extra inside-50 marks the Lions took also helped them record a total of 7.3 (45) from that specific scoring source compared to 4.1 (25) from the Eagles.

Crucially, Seymour also won the hit-outs to advantage 14-5, despite losing the total hit-out count 42-48, and had 14 more inside 50s than the visitors.

Tom Maloney had nine clearances for the Lions to lead all and sundry in the category, while David Mundy — in his first win for Seymour in more than two decades — had a mammoth 19 contested possessions and seven tackles to go with his five clearances.
