With both Jerilderie and Katandra missing key players, it proved to be a more even contest than many expected on Saturday.

The Dees took it right up to their more fancied opponents and it was neck-and-neck all day.
The key was our outstanding defensive pressure.
We harassed and stuck to the Cats’ key players, putting them under extreme pressure.
With the score level for most of the last quarter, it was the Kats who kicked two late goals to break the game open.
Despite a late goal to us, they were able to hang on for a six-point win.
Final score: Jerilderie 8.9.(57) def by Katandra 9.9.(63).
The Eagle I BOG went to Lachlan Taylor Nugent, and evergreen defender Bobbie Arnold won the Colony Inn award.
Max Bruton again provided a great option up forward to take out the Jerilderie Sports Club award, and Rory Parnell playing a very productive game in the centre won the Deni North Steel award.
Duncan Trethowan also played his best game in the backline.
This week, we take on Tungamah in a must-win game.
Importantly, we might just get hold of the Jye Holcombe Cup.
Reserves:
It was always going to be tough against the top side, but Jerilderie presented a full team.
It proved to be one-sided with the Kats able to move the ball freely and provide their forwards with plenty of the ball.
To our credit we never stopped trying, and a real lift in effort in the second half meant Katandra had to earn their kicks.
It is all we can ask of our players.
Final score: Jerilderie 0.0 (0) def by Katandra 23.19 (157).
Best players: Jack Tonta (Jerilderie Vet Clinic BOG), Brendon Beckett (Colony Inn), Doug Arnold (Lawton Ag Spraying) and Kev Moran (Yanco Delta Wind Farm).
Thirds:
With the deb ball on, numbers were light on with only six available.
Again a big thank you to the fourths who continue to help out and also to the Katandra players and club for stepping up and providing us with some players.
This is what makes our league such a great league to be a part of.
As a result, it made for a competitive game with the Cats winning.
Final score: Jerilderie 5.2 (32) def by Katandra 13.9 (87).
George Koschel (Makatac BOG) is putting together a great season, holding down the key CHB position.
Nick Taylor (Congrams Transport) continues to improve each week and was rewarded with his senior debut later on Saturday. Well done, Nick.
Dan Eldridge (Hair 4 U), Ash Hines (Colony Inn) and James Winn (coach’s award) were our other best players on the day.
Fourths:
The young Dees jumped out of the blocks, kicking the first three goals and were up and about.
Slowly, Katandra was able to hit the scoreboard and peg the game back even by half-time.
It was an even team performance and we continued to take it to the ladder leaders.
Overall it was a fantastic effort by all and proves you don’t always need to win the game to be winners.
Final score: Jerilderie 6.0.36 def by Katandra 8.4.52.
Best players: Jackson Pitt (Favara Farms BOG), Darby Edwards-Parsons (Colony Inn, three goals), Wil McGuiness (Supporter’s Award), Kye Anderson (Jerilderie Bakery) and James Winn (Ted Nugent).
