Levi was representing his school as part of the Riverina team at the state competition at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre on October 23 and 24.
After competing at Riverina level, Levi successfully progressed in three athletic disciplines at the state athletics championships - 100m sprint, long jump and high jump for 11-year boys.
Levi performed well in all three events, but had a particularly outstanding first day in his favourite event, the high jump.
Levi’s mum Ashley said he was competing against nearly 40 other boys from all over the state, averaging three from each region.
Due to the number of competitors, there were two high jump mats going with 20 competitors on each.
The competition saw the height of the jumps increase in 5cm increments, with Levi going in strong.
He cleared every jump on his first attempt, ending the event with a clean card.
Levi then reached the final two competitors.
Both tried 1.58m unsuccessfully, so Levi’s 1.55m jump was declared the winning result.
Ashley said Levi's hard work and dedication, and his love of high jump, saw him take out the gold medal, making him the 2024 NSW State Champion for the 11-year boys.
After receiving his state medal, Levi was also awarded a prestigious Riverina Medal for his achievements at Sydney.
“The reps were pretty stoked by his result, having seen Levi’s progress through Little Athletics, in particular with the Finley Little Athletics Club,” Ashley said.
Ashley said Levi is the school captain at Finley Public School, and is “very humbled” by the support from the school and wider community on his results so far.
She said he’s received many well wishes for the next stage of competition.
Levi will now be heading back to Sydney Olympic Park to compete at the PSSA Athletics National Championships, representing NSW and his local community.
It will take place from November 28 to December 2.
His high jump event will be held on Saturday, November 30.
