With no Melbourne players and still suffering from a number of injuries, the Redeyes called on half a dozen boys from other grades, who played two for the day.

They hit the park with an all local team and played admirably against a serious premiership contender in the Deni Rovers.
The Redeyes got just as much of the football as the opposition, but unfortunately were unable to use it as well.
It was really only the last 12 minutes that made the score board a little untidy.
With some thumping long kicks from Kyel Bain out of defence and some serious running from the smaller players, we set up a number of attacks going forward only to see them broken down at half forward and repelled by a tight Deniliquin defence.
Allan Gardiner, Nick Hay and Daniel Smits all played well for Blighty.
George Reid and Billy Lawes teamed together ferociously to tag opposition coach Alex Hay.
Final score: Deni Rovers 20.16 (136) def Blighty 1.3. (9).
Reserves:
A big crowd turned up in the freezing cold for the big game between the Deni Rovers and the Redeyes.
It was always going to be a tough day with a player shortage and trying conditions.
The mighty Redeyes rallied and once again ended up with good numbers in the reserves after two weeks off the park.
Apart from the first quarter, the boys played one of their best games of the year.
It was pleasing to see our team picked things up where they left off, with continued improvement and confidence.
Tyson Maltmans, Ash Bain, Craig Woolston and Dion Winter played good games especially after half-time when six of our players left the field to play seniors.
Final score: Blighty 0.0.(0) def by Rovers 19.10.(124).
Fourths:
Blighty hosted Deni Rovers for the Warner Tasker Cup day (seniors game only), which is always a great day and a lot of fun.
With wild weather the conditions were very challenging for everyone.
With icy, strong winds blowing across the ground it kept most of the game on the far side of the oval.
The Redeyes were undersized but didn’t stop trying all game.
Ruby Gordon was moved into the centre where she was able to put some good tackles in.
Tommy Bain was running all game and getting many possessions of the ball.
Pip Bain wasn’t letting her brother out do her and was putting 100 per cent in all game.
And Seth Feuss is really starting to show some great talent.
This week saw a new best on ground performance from Hudson Kelly. He has been working hard all season and this week it all came together for him.
William Frost had another strong game rucking for three quarters, which is a huge effort. He ran all day which was one of the team main goals of the day.
Logan Andrews really started to find his spot in the team and really looks like he is having fun.
Cassidy Sibraa didn’t stop, she was always trying to win the hard contested ball.
With two more games of the season, the Redeyes are showing great improvement each week.
Final score: Blighty 0.0 (0) def by Rovers 17.19 (121).
Fifths
The fifths had a great game Saturday against the Rovers.
It’s been a great season for this little group. With only two games to go, let’s enjoy it.
Thanks to all the parents that turn up every week, especially Saturday when it was freezing.
In good news for the pending presentation day, a very kind club person has donated two $50 vouchers to be awarded to two of the players. Thank you.
Our club has done it extremely hard the last two years. These little fifths have been great. Let’s all keep positive and enjoy the last two games.
