The Saints fell by to Mathoura by five goals.
Players, coaches and fans were disappointed with the loss, but look instead to use the outing as a learning experience.
The Saints were joined by country footy goal kicking legend Damian Cupido for the game, which provided an amazing opportunity for the young forwards to learn from one of the best.
Speaking of young Saints forward, Liam Brown played like a man possessed.
The 17 year-old had no fear when attacking the footy, willing to take on players with great size and experience advantages.
Coaches Justin Hoggan and Grant Martin seemed to be thrilled with how Brown is developing as a senior footballer.
Toby Dalgliesh - or ‘the Rolls Royce of Berrigan’, as he’s been coined due to his ever reliable clean and elegant play - is a nonchalant type of person but has been a rock for the club in the past five seasons. He is ultra-consistent and always leaves it all out on the field.
Aaron Burley continues to show that he deserved the call up from reserves this season as he evolves into an incredible one-on-one defender, rarely out-witted or out-worked. Aaron has the skills to match his determination.
Hoggan was on fire on Saturday as he continues to battle through injuries to deliver incredible performances. He puts blood sweat and tears into a game of footy, and is an incredible role model for our young playing list.
Final score: Berrigan 7.7 (49) lost to Mathoura 12.12 (84).
The Saints look to improve on their performance as they get revved up to face our biggest rival, the Jerilderie Demons, at home this Saturday.
It was a different story in the reserves, with Berrigan snagging a nail-biting win at Mathoura.
Noel Baxter was instrumental to the win, constantly coming out of packs with the ball in hand and kicking accurately to a fellow Saint.
Darcy Pyle, who played two games on the day, starred in the middle for the ressies. He used his agility and stature to get under players and leave his opponents in his wake.
Nick Arnold played up front in full forward and offered a target all game, and Murray Cameron connected boot to ball and sent a whopping 45m bomb to put the Sainters in front halfway through the last quarter.
Thank you to all players that filled in to help us field a team.
Let’s back it up with another great performance against Jerilderie.
Final score: Berrigan 5.13 (43) def Mathoura 4.3 (27).
Berrigan’s fourths posted another valiant win, scoring an astonishing 38 goals for the day.
The youngest players for the Saints proved to be invaluable, with players like Harvey Swann, Harrison Cooper and Ollie Batten showing real promise with their skills and sportsmanship as they pulled on the opponent’s jumper to help out with numbers.
Jordan Swann kicked an incredible bag of 10 goals for Berrigan, despite the coach’s attempts of moving him out of the forward line.
Logan Cooper and Taylor Thornton backed up Jordan’s performance with four goals each.
Taylor did more than just kick goals. He had one of his best games of the season.
Taylor has been continually reliable at halfback for the year and made the best of his opportunity in a forward role.
Final score: Berrigan 38.17 (245) def Mathoura (0).
