Tocumwal opened with Cooper Mangion and last week’s hero Brandon Meloury.
They started well and got the team to 28 before Mangion fell for 10.
Meloury (10) followed shortly after and this sparked a middle order collapse.
Kurt Chouffot (6) showed some great fight and stuck around for about 15 overs, and helped steady the ship also gaining some valuable time at the crease.
The stage was set for someone to take control.
Enter Daniel ‘Spida’ Bennett (23 not out).
Spida played some fantastic shots and batted extremely well with our young tail.
The Tocumwal side were then bowled out for 88 in the 33rd over.
Tocumwal knew they had to bowl well and field well to be in with a chance.
Tocumwal opened the bowling with Lachie Macdonald and Declan Cameron, until Macdonald hurt his hamstring.
This brought Mangion on and he and Cameron bowled fantastically together.
Cameron took 2-11 off 5 and was on a hat trick while Mangion bowled without luck finishing with 0-10.
Bennett got thrown the ball as he was on such a high after his batting performance, and managed to snag a wicket as well finishing with 1-13.
Macdonald came back on and bowled what would be described at best as tweakers, and finished with 2-17.
Kurt Chouffot also picked up a wicket with 1-6.
Unfortunately for Tocumwal, the Cobram Tigers chased down the total of 88 in the 28th over to win by four wickets.
Under-15s
This week saw Tocumwal under-15s conclude their two day game against Nathalia, and the Bloods were lucky enough to come away with another win.
Tocumwal lost the toss last week and Nathalia chose to bat on day one.
Tocumwal were able to pick up crucial wickets, and considering that Nathalia were 2-100 at the halfway mark Tocumwal did well to bowl them out for 154 with five overs to spare.
The pick of the bowlers were Lucas Baron (3-11 off 6), James White (1-9 off 6) and Ollie East (2-25 off 6).
Come day two on Saturday, Tocumwal were set a task of chasing down the total of 154.
Archie Chellew and Ollie East got Tocumwal off to the perfect start putting on a 40 run partnership before Ollie got out (12).
Archie then stuck it out and made a well earned 50 before throwing his wicket away.
Lucas Baron once again batted really well.
He was scratchy at first but showed great patience and resolve to nail down and work hard.
He went on to make 48 and was still at the crease when we hit the winning runs.
Chase Dickins had a great innings (19) putting away the bad balls, but unfortunately got out LBW.
It was fantastic for Tocumwal to have Layla Harrison come in when the side needed about six runs to win.
Her job was to get Lucas on strike and after a few tight quick singles Layla and Lucas were at the crease to get the job done to see Tocumwal by five wickets.
For the next two weeks, Tocumwal under-15s play away against Finley in a two-dayer.
It presents another opportunity for the team to continue on their way.
In senior cricket, Tocumwal A-grade plays Finley in a T20 at Finley on Thursday and against Deniliquin at Deni on Saturday.
C-grade is away against Strathmerton on Saturday.
