After an early loss of a wicket, Reilly Rennick and Tom White (10) batted well to see off the openers and build an early partnership.
However, the introduction of spin caused issues leading to two quick wickets leaving Tocumwal 3-33.
This brought Josh Wraight striding to the crease.
He took a liking to the Finley bowling, playing some beautiful drives and cut shots on the way to a quickfire 32 off just 22 balls.
As often happens, his wicket brought another, with the team falling to 5-93.
Throughout all of this Reilly Rennick was batting beautifully keeping the score moving and ended up with his second half-century of the year making 59.
When Reilly fell, it was left to Ranji Oliver (36) to build partnerships with the tail to take Tocumwal to a good total.
He was well-supported by the lower order with Andy Arthur making 16, Lucas Baron (4 not out) and Joe Barker (4 not out).
Tocumwal batted their overs out and managed a competitive total (9-187) without really getting any big partnerships going in the innings.
When Finley started their batting and Tocumwal took to the field, it was still hot, and both teams had to work hard.
Andy Arthur bowled with a head of steam and was unlucky to not have a bag of early wickets due to some dropped catches.
Finley kept managing to find the boundary with regularity, meaning they moved the score along briskly to 2-61 around the 15 over drinks break.
Finley then began to score well with a big partnership threatening to take the game away from Tocumwal.
This was before the introduction of Tocumwal’s Lucas Baron in his first full outing for the A-grade side.
With his first ball, he took the wicket of Harry Wilkinson for 62 and immediately got a second wicket caught behind on the way to the brilliant figures of 2-13 off 5 overs.
He bowled in partnership with Christina Roberts, who took the key wicket of Archie Mason for 48 on her way to figures of 2-11 off 5.
This bowling partnership changed the game and set us on course for victory.
Andy Arthur (3-35 off 9) then came on to take three quick wickets to run through the tail, finally getting reward for his good bowling.
The game got tight but Tocumwal managed to squeeze a win with Finley being all out for 162.
