After being sent in to bat, Finley got off to a great start until the fifth ball when Cameron Arnold tried to send the ball to Shepparton but was given out LBW.
Enter Logan Eldridge who, along with Nathan Brown, calmed things down for a while scoring 15.
Ryan Bauer came in at four and was the standout for the young team.
He showed the older players how it should be done keeping a very level head scoring 27 off 30 overs.
Stand-in captain Russell Anderson chipped in with 16 runs.
Nic Chesworth got the crowd excited with a four off his first ball.
While Finley didn’t make enough runs, the positive was they managed to bat the full 40 overs making 108 runs.
Finley defended well with odd loose ball being punished by some very experienced batters.
Jackson Tooke opened the bowling and was very economical and got the prize wicket of Riley Thomson.
Ryan Bauer came on later to finish off a great personal game and showed everyone that consistent good line and length is the key.
James Winn had an outstanding game behind the stumps taking the first catch and had the opposition commenting on his performance.
All-round it was a promising performance, especially by our juniors.
Katamatite chased down the runs in the 23rd over, four wickets down.
In the next game, B-grade take on Barooga.
Under-15s
The under-15s travelled to Cobram for their first week of their two-dayer.
Finley won the toss and chose to bowl.
Finley had to work hard for their wickets with Cobram starting well.
It was Noah Brindley (1-12) who got the first breakthrough.
Once again Sophie Urquhart was taking wickets she finished her spell 3-9 off 4 overs.
Cobram finished their innings 5-199.
Finley will have to work hard next week to chase this down.
Under-13s
The under-13s took on Berrigan this week on their home ground.
Going in to bat first, the young Cats made a respectable 86 runs off 20 overs.
Berrigan started their chase strong but Finley were able to hold on and manage to bowl Berrigan all out for 81.
Bowling highlights were Jackson Pyle (1-3 off two overs), Lincoln Price (1-6 off two overs), Archie Brindley (1-8 off two overs) and an awesome catch from Lincoln Cicolini to bring the game to an end.
